Search Underway for 4-Year-Old Alabama Boy Missing Since New Year’s Eve

A large-scale search is underway in Jasper, Alabama, for a 4-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday morning. Authorities say the child’s father has been arrested on an unrelated explosives-related charge.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Johnathan Everett Boley was last seen around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 195 in a wooded, rural area outside Jasper. The city is located roughly 40 miles northwest of Birmingham.

Johnathan is described as white, with blond hair and blue eyes. At the time he disappeared, he was wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants, and Paw Patrol shoes.

Timeline of the Disappearance

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the missing child at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sheriff Nick Smith told reporters Thursday.

Authorities were informed that Johnathan had been with his 6-year-old brother and the family dog when he went missing. Officials have not released details about the whereabouts of the older sibling.

Extensive Search Efforts Underway

Law enforcement officers searched the child’s home and launched an extensive air and ground search shortly after the report was made. The operation included helicopters equipped with thermal imaging technology, as well as canine units trained to locate missing persons.

Search efforts continued through the night until about 3 a.m. and resumed again Thursday morning, Sheriff Smith said.

Officials have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and say the investigation remains active as search teams continue to comb the area.
